Following his secondary classical piano education in Demmin, Matti Klein studied jazz piano with Prof. Wolfgang Köhler, Rolf Zielke and Hubert Nuss at the University of Berlin Jazz-Institute.

Matti Klein, „A genuine groove virtuoso.“ (Kieler Nachrichten), is not only a brilliant piano player. Moreover the German magazine KEYBOARDS dedicated a fourpart workshop series to his Fender Rhodes Style. In addition to Mo’ Blow, further studio work as a pianist and/or arranger can be heard on Defne Sahin’s album „Yaşamak“, from the series „JazzThing - Next Generation“, as well as Herbert Groenemeyer’s album „Schiffsverkehr“.

When he is not on the road with the boys, Matti is engaged as a popular soloist and sideman in Berlin, i.e. as resident at Soho House as well as various clubs and international festivals such as the World Forum on Music (Los Angeles). In 2011/2012 he received a teaching assignment for directing the Big Band from the University of Berlin and Conservatory „Hanns Eisler“ Jazz-Institute.
